Obedience is the price,
Faith is the power,
Love is the motive,
The Spirit is the key,
and
Christ is the reason.
This motto has had a wide effect. Elder Merrill J. Bateman and his wife spoke of their experiences learning from this motto and how the missionaries lived it while visiting the Fukuoka Mission in 1993. Multiple missions have adopted and/or adapted the original mission motto, many of them in Japan.
Including my mission. In July 2013, The Japan Tokyo Mission split into the Japan Tokyo Mission and the Japan Tokyo South Mission. I was assigned to the South Mission.
President Wada, the new Mission President for the South, had been a missionary advisor under President Figuerres, and decided to use the same mission motto. And this is when I was introduced to it.
This mission motto changed me. It changed the way I did missionary work. It changed the way I prayed. It changed the way I understood the Gospel. Most of all, it changed the kind of man I am, even to this day.
Hence, when creating a blog of my mission experiences, it only seemed appropriate to sort my experiences--not by area or companion or transfer--but by the motto.
It is my prayer that these experiences strengthen your faith, inspire greater charity, and help you remember that Christ is the reason.
